Friends and Family —
It’s that time of year again! AIDS Walk 2023 is upon us on July 16, 2023, and I'm asking for your support of the National AIDS Memorial team. To those who have decided to give in the past, thank you so much for your ongoing support as we continue to raise awareness for this event. We’ve grown our AIDS Walk team over the years as an opportunity for our communities to unite and walk as one in the fight against stigma and denial, and in hope for a just future.
I’ve served as a Board Member of the National AIDS Memorial for the past 5 years. It's been a privilege to watch the organization continue to educate people that the story of AIDS is a vital part of the greater struggle for social justice. History continues to show us that social justice and health justice can't be separated from one another. They're part of the same fight -- and the story of HIV/AIDS activism is a vital tool as we inspire new generations of activists in the fight against injustice.
Because of your support, the National AIDS Memorial has grown and expanded its programming over the past few years to include:
- Increased funding for the Pedro Zamora Youth Scholarship Program, including a new partnership to have 10 additional scholarships supporting students of HBCUs.
- Launch of the "Change the Pattern" program in 2022, allowing the Quilt to travel to communities throughout the Southern U.S to honor Black and Brown lives lost to HIV and AIDS - a new initiative to reimagine the response to the epidemic in the region.
- Commitment to community storytelling through our Surviving Voices projects
- Investments in physical improvements and plans for an even larger footprint nationally.
I'm asking you to please consider helping me reach my stretch goal of $3,000. A donation of any kind would not only be deeply appreciated but would be a meaningful gift to an organization I love: sf.aidswalk.net/anniewilson
Lastly, I recognize there are a lot of organizations that need support at this time. Personally, I also give on an ongoing basis to the Brigid Alliance. If you are not able to give at this time to prioritize other giving, I would love for you to join me on July 16th! You can sign up here.
Thank you in advance!
