Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! Please support me by making a donation here to AIDS Walk San Francisco.

Many people today think that the AIDS epidemic is over. That misconception is fueled by the success of drugs that manage the disease and serve as prophylaxis to prevent infection in the HIV negative population. Managing a disease and curing a disease are two entirely different outcomes and should never be confused. There is still much work to be done, not only scientifically, but also socially and psychologically. Here in Marin County, the Marin AIDS Project, now merged with the Spahr Center, has led the way forward since early in the epidemic. They provide services to people with HIV and AIDS, educate county youth, provide psychotherapy and benefits counseling, and maintain a food bank. And this is the short list.

It is for these reasons that I have decided to join the Spahr Center's AIDS Walk Team. Until there is a cure, there is a need to maintain programs such as these. Your donation, of any amount, is much appreciated, and be certain it will be well spent in the effort to contain and end the epidemic.

Thanks,
John
