1. Name and Work Title:
Monica Banuelos, Case Manager
2. How long have you been working with HIV+ clients? If more than your time at The Health Trust, where you were before and for how long?
In 2017 I began working as a case manager and housing specialist under Ryan White and Housing Opportunities for People With AIDS (HOPWA) at Bay Area Community Health. In August of 2021, I decided to broaden the population I serve and came to The Health Trust.
3. Why did you get into this work? Do you have a personal connection with someone with HIV?
I got into this work to help the clients who struggle to advocate for themselves and for clients who may not know of programs available to assist them. Even though I do not have a personal connection with someone who is living with HIV, I am passionate and want to help guide our clients by being a helping hand.
4. Why is it important to support the AIDS Services program? How do our services help clients?
I believe it is important to help support the AIDS Services program because it allows new avenues of assistance to be available for our clients. AIDS Services program is able to assist clients with dental, prescriptions, transportation, rental assistance, and other costs of living expenses. This allows us the opportunity to help our clients and alleviate any stress factors so they can redirect and focus on their health.
5. Something fun! :-)
If there is music playing, you'll find me dancing!
