As many of you know, I’ve been working in the fight against HIV/AIDS for many years; my first step (pun intended!) to becoming an AIDS activist and doing whatever I could to support the cause started with the Walk For Life, Boston’s first version of an AIDS Walk, circa 1986 or 1987. Phew! That was a looooooooooooooooooong time ago…!

I know we have made great strides in fighting HIV/AIDS, and yet: we do not have a cure, new infection rates are still too high, and too many people living with HIV don’t have access to basic resources they need to survive and stay healthy.

I walk for Project Inform because they work tirelessly every day to save lives in multiple ways. The work they do is unique, and you can be certain that your generous support is put to effective use. Funds raised through this year’s AIDS Walk will support vital advocacy and education initiatives that would not exist without Project Inform’s leadership, including:
*Participating in the development of research to better understand the unique medical and mental health issues that the growing population of people over 50 living with HIV are experiencing;
*Educating over 700,000 HIV-negative people nationally about PrEP as a compelling option for preventing HIV infection;
*Integrating HIV and hepatitis C prevention program responses to the injection opioid crisis in Northern California; and
*Advocating to increase funding in California for expansion of HIV programs.

It’s an honor to be a part of this movement, from those very early days to today. I hope you’ll join me. Together we will continue to make a difference! Thank you!
