As many of you may know, for the past 8 years I have had the privilege of serving as an eviction defense attorney with the AIDS Legal Referral Panel (ALRP) serving people living with HIV in most major Bay Area counties. This year, ALRP celebrates 40 years of community service and dedication to protecting some of our most vulnerable residents. I hope you'll consider supporting ALRP by donating to my AIDS Walk campaign! Your donations will help ensure that ALRP continues to fight for people living with HIV.

Over the past 40 years, ALRP handled a staggering 95,000 cases. 85% of our clients identify as LGBTQIA, and survive on extremely low income. 50% of ALRP's clients come from communities of color, and 70% are older adults with a number of age-related comorbidities. Over the past 15 years, ALRP saw a 77% increase in calls from our community for legal support.

ALRP works tirelessly to protect our client's government benefits, to keep them in their homes, and secure asylum from countries hostile to queer people. At the same time, local nonprofits are fighting against government budget cuts that threaten our ability to continue providing services. This year alone, the city of San Francisco is facing a 10% overall reduction in its city budget, and next year that percentage is very likely to increase as our city continue to grapple with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
