The money does not come to me personally, in fact, I'll never touch the funds you donate, if you donate online here. It all goes into a fund that supports over a dozen non-profits in the San Francisco Bay Area who have proven themselves to be amazing organizations with impressive track records doing great work supporting every aspect (collectively) of the work that supports the community (possibly including your friends, neighbors, colleagues, loves ones past & present, & maybe even those within your own family) who have been touched & possibly suffered by the AIDS crisis.

And, I'm sad to say, this crisis is not yet over. Globally, as per the UN [unaids.org/en/resources/fact-sheet]: An estimated "83.5 million people have acquired HIV since the start of this pandemic", and of them an estimated "43.2 million people have died from AIDS-related illnesses". These numbers are hard to comprehend. An estimated "570,000 people died from AIDS-related illnesses in 2025". 💔 And an estimated "51% of all people living with HIV are women & girls". 💔 Despite what some still think, it’s an equal opportunity disease. "Approximately 1.2 million people in the U.S. are living with HIV, and about 1 in 8 don’t know it”! 😳 [hiv.gov/hiv-basics/overview/data-and-trends/statistics] There is still no cure for AIDS, treatments (for those who can access it) yes, a cure no.

This is only my second year fundraising for the AIDS Walk this year, so your support would be most encouraging. I'll be walking the 5K AIDS Walk again this year on July 19 in Golden Gate Park. Also before & after the walk, on the day of the event I'll be helping the National AIDS Memorial Foundation set up & take down quite a number of blocks (weather permitting) of the historic National AIDS Memorial Quilt. Each block usually includes eight panels each, and each panel is about the size of a grave. The Quilt is a one of a kind, heart wrenching yet amazingly beautiful, & still growing sacred memorial to those who have passed on from AIDS. I also volunteer on a nearly monthly basis for the National AIDS Memorial Grove located in Golden Gate Park at their volunteer gardening days. It has been & continues to be an honor to assist the community in these fashions.

So, if you are able, willing & so inspired to make a donation, please do so here on my AIDS Walk page, ASAP. If you are unable to do so, I do understand - times are tough - no worries if you can't. But if you can, you'll be giving material aid to those who really need it, AND you'll be sending a message to those on high that health care, especially health care that responds to epidemics & pandemics, really is vitally important. All donations, large or small are greatly appreciated, and are still tax deductible (as determined by the IRS). And if you don’t see this until after this event, it’s still not too late to donate. Donations will still be graciously received & tallied for this event through August 20, 2025.
