Milestones are to be celebrated and 2026 is a milestone year for myself. I am celebrating 37 years of thriving and living with HIV/AIDS.

Diagnosed as a death sentence in November of 1989, the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, my physician suggested that I quit my job, file for disability and spend quality time with my family and friends. Why? Because I had 6 months to a year to live. 37 years later, I no longer anticipate dying. These days I participate in living and doing “What I can, when I can.

Last year was the last year of the AIDS Lifecycle, an event that I enjoyed participating in. Unfortunately, due to circumstance beyond my control, I was unable to ride. Instead, I was able to participate in last year's AIDS Walk. In 2026, I'm now focusing my energy on the 40th Anniversary of AIDS Walk on Sunday, July 19th, 2026, a 5K walk throughout Golden Gate Park.
