I am raising money through AIDS Walk San Francisco for the AIDS Legal Referral Panel (ALRP). ALRP is a legal-aid non-profit providing legal services to people living with HIV in the SF Bay Area. ALRP's services have helped thousands of people save their housing, employment, health care, immigration status, and so much more. ALRP just recently opened its 100,000th case, an incredible milestone for its 40+ year history. ALRP is also on the front lines defending its highly vulnerable clients against deportation and detention in the current immigration crackdown. If you have been unsure where to put your time and resources to defend people living on the margins, please donate to ALRP. ALRP's immigration clients have little income (if any) and typically have fled mortal danger in their home countries due to stigma towards their HIV status, sexual orientation, or gender identity. They need ALRP's attorneys to help them through immigration proceedings and possible detention or deportation by ICE. Oftentimes, ALRP clients have strong cases for asylum or other potential relief, but lack an attorney. By supporting ALRP, you are saving someone from returning to severe violence or death in their country of origin. When I was in private practice, I represented pro bono ALRP clients seeking asylum, and it was easily some of the most impactful and important work I have done in my career. Help me help ALRP get more attorneys to do this critical work! Thank you for anything you can contribute to an organization I am deeply passionate about.
