July 21 is AIDS Walk San Francisco at Golden Gate Park. I won't be walking this time (I have an unfortunate hip injury), but I will be trying to bring in more money for an organization doing amazing work here in the Bay Area, AIDS Legal Referral Panel. I serve as the Treasurer on the Board of Directors, and previously helped ALRP clients pro bono when I worked in private practice.

ALRP's attorneys have worked tirelessly since the early days of the HIV epidemic, preparing wills and advanced directives for dying clients. Now the work is focused on helping clients who live to old age but face a wide array of legal issues such as housing, health insurance, immigration, employment, probate, and government benefits. 80% of ALRP's clients live on $30,000 or less annual income. That means something we might consider a minor legal problem is a huge problem for an ALRP client, jeopardizing their health and well-being.

Last year, so many of you helped me beat my $1,000 fundraising goal. Thank you again for contributing, as it helped raise over $30,000 for AIDS Legal Referral Panel. This year, please help me beat my increased $1,500 goal!

Any amount you can contribute will help ALRP provide legal services to hundreds of clients living with HIV (1,315 unique clients in 2023 alone).
