Hello friends and family-

In 2004, I moved to South Africa to start my Masters in Public Health and right away, I got involved in HIV community education projects (working with home based care givers) and with HIV research at the University of Cape Town. This year marks 20 years that I have been involved in HIV prevention and care work. In many ways, HIV has defined my career - and my life - to this point. And while I hope for a future without HIV and a time when stigma and fear surrounding HIV no longer exist, we are not there yet. So I ask you to please consider sponsoring me and the SF AIDS Walk this year - since unfortunately, in the Bay Area, and around the US and the world, people are still acquiring HIV every day.

I have set an ambitious goal for this year. I am going to try and raise $5000 - more than I have ever raised (I think my previous high was $3000). And if you are in the Bay Area, I invite you to join me at the AIDS Walk in July. I will be there with my family - walking to remind the world that HIV is still affecting our communities - and that we have not forgotten the many millions that we have lost.
