Hi Friend!
First off, thank you for visiting my fundraising page as I prepare for AIDS Walk 2024. I have participated in AIDS Walk several times over the past 18 years since moving to San Francisco, because I know that we still have a long way to go in Getting to Zero new HIV infections, HIV related deaths, and eradicating HIV stigma, while providing life-saving psychosocial and medical support to people living with HIV.
As a psychotherapist who specializes in working with people living with HIV, I continue to witness first hand the impacts of HIV/AIDS on individuals and our communities. While we have come such a long way with medical interventions and ART medications that allow people living with HIV to reach undetectable viral loads, and we have PrEP that has revolutionized HIV prevention, we still have so many disparities among the most vulnerable communities.
This is where community driven fundraising comes into play. So many of the vital services, including substance use treatment, housing, emergency financial assistance, food and nutrition services, case management, mental health, and more, are contingent on fundraisers like AIDS Walk.
This is why I am walking and why I will remain committed to this cause.
Thank you for joining me by contributing today. I am grateful for you!
Warmly,
Zachary
